How to use Cozaar

Before you buy cozaar and begin taking the medication, it is important to read the drug’s information leaflet. Cozaar is an oral medicine available both in a tablet and a liquid form. You should use the medicine as directed by your doctor. It is usually taken once daily. The dosage depends upon your medical condition, as well as your response to treatment. Should you take the drug in its liquid form, shake the bottle well before each dosage. You have to carefully measure the dosage with a special measuring spoon or device, which you can get from your local pharmacist. Losartan Potassium is known to effectively treat high blood pressure.

The drug can be administered with or without food. The losartan is metabolized by the liver by the cytochrome P450 enzyme into an active metabolite which is responsible for a major function of the drug’s activity. Reducing the dosage by 50 percent is suggested for patients who have an impaired liver function.

If you miss a prescribed dose of Cozaar, take it as soon as you remember it. But never take it if you are close to your next dose. In such cases, it’s advisable to skip the missed dose. You should be careful not to overdose.

Cozaar should be stored at room temperature, away from heat and humidity. It should be kept out of reach of children.

Cozaar has been approved for treating blood pressure among children above the age of six years old.
