What is Cozaar?

Generic Cozaar, or losartan potassium, is a drug which falls under the category of angiotensin-II receptor antagonists. This drug keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which in turn lowers blood pressure and increases blood flow. Losartan, the chief component of this drug, is used to treat hypertension. Cozaar may be used alone or in combination with other agent(s), depending on what your doctor prescribes. The medicine bears lesser effect on African American patients, akin to ACE inhibitors like enalapril (Vasotec), lisinopril (Zestril) and captopril (Capoten).
